Groundbreaking of the Neuss Hoisten fire station
Groundbreaking ceremony
Start of construction for the new construction of the new fire station in Neuss Hoisten. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony last Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the state-of-the-art fire station.
In the future, the new fire station will function as the second main location of the Neuss fire brigade and will combine the full-time station, the Hoisten fire brigade of the volunteer fire brigade as well as the special vehicle hall and the training area in three individual buildings. In addition, there is the central laundry for the operational clothing of all firefighters, the central laundry for the hoses contaminated during the operation, as well as a petrol station, special vehicle hall, workshop and car wash.
»The new fire station meets the ever-increasing requirements and, with its wide range of training options, offers us optimal conditions to prepare for a wide variety of emergency situations. We can’t wait for the day of commissioning«, says Joachim Elblinger, head of the Neuss fire department.
The basic idea for the concept of the new fire brigade building arose from the reflection on simple, cubic building types of modernity. In their functional simplicity and monolithicness, the individual buildings act as an ensemble. The targeted urban layout picks up on the shape of the site and arranges the buildings to improve the performance of the fire brigade in an elongated, differentiated ensemble in a west-east direction.
»The distinctive ensemble of buildings is not only a landmark at the entrance to the village, but also a calling card for the Hoisten fire brigade«, says Mayor Reiner Breuer.
So stay tuned for more updates and information about the progress of the project.
