Textile machinery manufacturer Schlafhorst, founded in 1884 by Wilhelm Schlafhorst, conquered the world market from its headquarters in Mönchengladbach. Yet, over the past decades the German textile machinery manufacturing industry has gone the way of the textile production industry and has gradually moved to other countries and continents. As a result, Schlafhorst only needs a part of its original factory for its production activities.
The general area here on Blumenbergerstraße and Landgrafenstraße is to be preserved in the long term, so an innovative master plan for the future use of the production halls and office buildings was to be developed.
The core idea of our design is to make space available to other companies in the »Schlafhorst Business Park Mönchengladbach«, a traditional location for quality German mechanical engineering. The densely built-up factory site will be gutted, modernised and divided into various units for sale or rent to retailers, small traders and service companies.
