Concept “Connect 45” wins 3rd prize
Competition for the area Sohnstrasse in Düsseldorf
The urban planning competition for the still existing Telekom high-rise on Sohnstrasse in Düsseldorf gave the participants freedom to decide what to do with the existing building.
Schrammen Architects opted for a contemporary and sustainable solution, in which the high-rise remains and is broken up by an opening and integrated into a valuable urban and residential area.

Connect 45
The new mixed-use area envisages a lively and mixed residential area. Two entrée squares strengthen the pull in and the connection of the new quarter to the existing part of the city. The connection of the urban areas as well as the connection to the history of the area were particularly important in the design – as can also be seen from the naming. We have summarized more about the project including images on the project page.
